Heeeey, this month is even better than last month.
$49.33 = (2 x $11.40) + (5 x $1.78) + (33 x $0.08) + $14.99[royalties]
In terms of lensranks, I went from [2, 4, 22] to [2, 5, 33]. Definitely great that I got a ton more lenses in pay tiers.

Inspired by a clip on TV, here is my lens dedicated to Chewing Gum Artists! Have you even heard of making art with chewing gum or bubble gum? It’s pretty amazing. Once you see a few and think about it, it totally makes sense. I mean, gum comes in all sorts of colors, why not chew different flavors together (except that it might taste terrible) to mix them into different colors! Plus, chewing helps get rid of all the sugar in the gum to make the gum have a better texture and maybe prevents bugs, too. However, usually, the gum gets covered in varnish. Let me know what you think!
The other day, I just had an urge to make a single lens that covers ALL the Nikon D-series cameras. These are Nikon’s digital single-lens reflex cameras. There’s been a whole ton of them over the years, and these babies are not cheap. Oftentimes with electronics, the new gadget shows up and the older model is no longer being sold. But, you don’t need all the new bells and whistles! So what do you do? Well, head on over to eBay.
Perhaps it’s a little too early to introduce this lens. I want to add some links to reviews about each of these cameras. Right now, you can see how they’re doing on eBay and for some of the ones that are being sold on Amazon, you can compare the eBay price with the Amazon retail price. I’m thinking I’ll just slowly keep adding stuff. Also, I’m actively lensrolling other Nikon camera lenses, so if you’ve got a good one that I’ve missed, let me know! Instead of making one lens for each model, I’m going to turn this into a monstrous lens!
And everyone going for Giant this time around, good luck!!
Mo’ video games! Well, computer games, anyway. I’ve created another lens that puts together my favorite type of casual games. There are lots of Tycoon-themed games where the object is you manage a business and become a zillionaire. Sometimes, you have to open franchises, negotiate supply prices, figure out the selling price of your product… And well, since it’s just a simulation, if you mess up, you can just restart it. Even though a bunch of the games are pretty much played the same way, what can I say? I’m addicted to them!
Oh! I almost forgot the link to my Tycoon-Themed Downloadable Games!
Wowee, I can hardly believe it! I got craaaaaazy eBay royalty payments!
$48.41 = (2 x $11.76) + (4 x $1.90) + (22 x $0.08) + $15.53[royalties]
In terms of LensRank, I’ve gone from [1, 3, 19] to [2, 4, 22].
I think it’s been 6 months since I joined Squidoo. Oh wait, I just checked, and it’s been 7!
I heard about Squidoo from a New York Times article and the whole premise just intrigued me. Of course, making money online is cool, too, but I hadn’t really tried to do that before. The Squidoo platform just seemed so straightforward and easy on the eyes. Why not make just a single webpage on some small topic I enjoy? I mean, I would never build a whole site around one of these things….
I decided at the beginning that I would give Squidoo 6 solid months of effort before deciding whether to quit or not. If it didn’t make me any money, if I didn’t like the layout, if it couldn’t do things I wanted to do, if the people were mean, if if if. There were lots of things that could go wrong. But you know what? I’m still here. Actually, I like Squidoo a lot! It’s so easy to use and people are nice and people write comments and I get traffic! I love getting attention!
So, although I’m not quitting my job to do online stuff full time yet, I’m going to stick around on Squidoo and continue building these pages one at a time. It’s so refreshing.
I recently finished a up a new lens. Actually, it’s very low key, and I got the idea when I was randomly surfing the web on Harry Potter. I came across the Hogwarts Professor, who turns out has written many books about the deeper meaning of the Harry Potter stories. More specifically, many Christians had objections to the wizards and witches portrayed in the books and felt there was a lot of anti-Christian imagery and notions. John Granger was at first skeptical about the books, too. However, after reading them, he discovered quite the opposite: there are actually Christian messages in the books!
I am not Christian, and my interest in John Granger is really in trying to understand a different perspective of Harry Potter. It’s really more like what Harry Potter can be beyond just a children’s book. John Granger now lectures all over and also maintains his own blog. You can find all this and a few of his recently published books on my lens about John Granger.
Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving!
Yipers. I’ve procrastinated and procrastinated. Here are the deets.
$20.79 = (1 x $11.52) + (3 x $1.92) + (19 x $0.08) + $0.47[royalties]
In terms of LensRank, I’ve gone from [1, 4, 15] to [1, 3, 19].
I just found out that one of my lenses has been nominated for a 2008 Giant Squid Award! It’s actually one of my best performing lenses, bringing in strong traffic and lots of click-outs for many, many weeks now. It also happens to be one of my first lenses! Wait, it just might be my very first lens. That means my other lenses have not been able to beat my first lens. Hmm….
It’s Plant Tycoon! Come check out the lens. Not only that, don’t forget to check out the 2008 Giant Squid Award lens. Everyone can vote and there’s tons of good stuff there!
Inspired by some of the threads in the forum about updating lenses, I started updating my lenses from the bottom of the list a couple of weeks ago. Since I have a whole bunch of old lenses that had dropped below the 200k mark (not counting WIPs), I decided that it was time to do a little updating. Actually, I didn’t have that much more to say about them. It was more that I made those lenses before I knew anything about SEO. So, I went in and rewrote some things and tried to make it more optimized. When your lens in down below 200k, just making it fresh can boost the lensrank a lot. After I updated these lenses, there was a little bit of traffic trickling in (~1-3 in the past 7 days) and the lensrank has gone up past the mid 150ks. I’m happy with that. Plus, doing these little optimization updates don’t take that much time, and I’ve been sneaking them in at work during short breaks…. Still have a few more to go!
